The Spastic Centre values new graduates who seek employment with us and is keen to support you in your new role in a variety of ways.
The Allied Health New Graduate Program has been successfully run in our Rural Services and we are now eager to roll it out to all Allied Health professionals who join us as new graduates. We are opening up our New Graduate Program to not only those who are newly qualified, but all who have qualified within the last 18 months from a degree in the Allied Health field.
Our New Graduate Program and benefits package recognises some of the key challenges that you may face and that others have identified before you. The program offers a comprehensive training and support package for your first two years with us, as well as two key financial incentives, one upon joining and one upon completing two years.

Overview
Who can apply
Allied Health professionals, including:
Who’s a new graduate
An individual who has graduated within the last 18 months from a degree in the Allied Health field. If you have greater experience than this we still may have jobs for you with lots to offer but we no longer consider you a new graduate, so not eligible for this program.
Our offer to you
The New Grad Grand! $1,000 upon starting with The Spastic Centre ($1,500 for those relocating to a rural site).
The Spastic Centre acknowledges that often when individuals have graduated and are starting their career $1,000 can go a long way. New costs may exist around transport, a ‘work’ wardrobe or setting up home. We hope to offer you a little extra support at this exciting time.
Graduation bonus – an extra $2000 upon completion of two years service with The Spastic Centre – so you get to graduate twice, once from uni and once from the new graduate program!
We are keen to mark the completion of your first two years with us with the $2,000 graduation bonus. It may be time to put this towards an overseas vacation, paying off HECS debt or further studies. We leave the difficult choice of how to spend it to you!
2nd Year - attend either a relevant external state or national conference as a delegate or an external specialised training course.
In your second year of employment with us we would like you, with your supervisor’s assistance, to identify a relevant external state or national conference to attend. These choices may well vary, depending on what is being offered by your professional body or specialist organisations. Alternatively, you may wish to attend a relevant external specialist training course.
Two year professional development package.
The aim of this comprehensive package is to ensure that you develop your skills and knowledge in the key areas in which you will be working at a planned pace. This will be achieved through The Spastic Centre’s orientation package and the Allied Health specific training options. The package aims to support you, through supervision and mentoring, with both your supervisor and Team Leader ensuring development of a personalised learning plan, career guidance and regular performance appraisals.
The new graduate peer support forum offers an opportunity to talk with colleagues in a similar situation located throughout The Spastic Centre. The forum aims to allow you an allocated time and space to shape your discussions and direct your group, engaging others within the organisation as you feel necessary.
There are a number of team days and discipline specific forums that you will be able to join. As your knowledge of the organisation and your skills expand, so will your ability to more actively participate in the various forums.
