Celebrating Champions

The theme of this year’s National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week is ‘Celebrating Champions. The Spastic Centre believes anyone living their passion is a champion!

CP Week is about promoting awareness and understanding about CP within the wider community.

To celebrate the week, The Spastic Centre will host a range of activities throughout our sites across NSW.

About the week

‘As part of the National CP Week celebrations, we congratulate people living with cerebral palsy who are living their passions, like those individuals who will be participating in the upcoming Paralympic Games in Beijing. This week we celebrate their achievements as they are already champions at what they do.’

The Hon. Kristina Keneally MP, Minister for Ageing & Disability Services

The ‘Celebrating Champions’ campaign hopes to draw the community’s attention to the diverse achievements of children and adults with CP. The campaign aims to promote tolerance, acceptance and positive perceptions of people with disabilities. Jessica Irwin (photographer), Jason Stojanovski (actor) and Andrew Pasterfield (Paralympic swimmer) have been selected as the ‘faces’ for the campaign. Each one of them are great examples of people with CP enjoying life on their terms.
