Rohan Davies

It all happened to me some time back in early 90's, yes that was some time ago. My name is Rohan Davies & I'm 38 now.

I fell Victim of the Weather, (a Torrential Downpour) at Wahroonga, home of the highest rain level on the North Shore. It rained worse like it had never rained before, making the roads very difficult to travel on. Motorists like me could get into all sorts of trouble in the sudden flash flood. The lack of adequate drainage on the highway, didn't help much either.

That night I had been out racing my Slot Car at Waitara Raceway for a Hobby & was on my way home to Turramurra, using the highway. I felt it would be safer than the back roads home; easier to see and act on should I run into a dangerous situation. Unfortunately for me the water had built up considerably because the drains had not being able to cope. It was a very dark night and I did not see the water level until it was too late to take evasive action. As a result I aquaplaned into a power pole. Luckily this happened in the early hours of a Sunday morning so the road was relatively quiet. I sustained a Head injury, a broken leg & cuts to my body. I was in a pretty banged up state, but I am still here today. As a result, my Motor functions had taken a bad blow. My speech abilities were knocked about and have suffered the greatest loss.

I now know the real meaning of the expression "Sh** Happens". "Oops" I can't use those words, but it fitted the occasion. so well I felt & as Forrest Gump once said in his Movie, "Life is like a BIG Box of Chocolates, Only you don't know what you'll get they all taste different! Until you try them all some soft, some hard".

Anyway, after spending 19 long & often at times boring months in hospital, being rehabilitated, I was finally allowed home, Yahoo!... Free!
